A multi-functional stool inspired by Katong’s Peranakan Culture. Inspired by how Peranakan houses are that line Katong’s streets, the bamboo sticks which were once used for hanging laundry are now cut in length and reconfigure into a stool.

Created from found objects of Katong, Bersatu is a multi-functional stool drawn from the inspiration of Katong. The name Bersatu is also derived from a malay word which means "As One". Use the Bersatu Stool to support your leg when you wear your shoes, or as a table & chair or side table.
Drawn from the inspiration of how Peranakan houses are laid side by side, the bamboo sticks once used for laundry of households is cut into parts and reformed into a stool. The BerSatu Stool features an array of vibrant coloured bamboo poles representing the colourful Peranakan culture particularly in their architecture, Nyoya kuey and batik prints.
There goes a saying that ‘it is easy to break a chopstick but they become unbreakable when you place them together’ a saying similar to kampong spirit whereby unity is strength. The bamboo poles of BerSatu moulded together signify this unity spirit which are often reminisce.
